COURSE: Road Safety Education Program

You will learn to adopt safe behaviours, handle a passenger vehicle and use the road network in an independent, cooperative and responsible manner. The course has a minimum duration of 39 hours: A 24-hour theoretical component, divided into 12 modules of 2 hours each and a 15-hour practical, on-road component of 55-minute in-car sessions with an instructor. Before each outing, the instructor will discuss manoeuvres to perform and behaviours to adopt. At the end of the lesson, you and the instructor will discuss your strengths, things to improve and the elements to put into practice during your next in-car sessions.

The 12 theory modules are divided into 4 phases.

Phase 1 : 28-day minimum duration - After you pass Phase 1, you may obtain your learner’s licence. You must have acquired the concepts presented in the first 5 modules in which the fifth is a review and examination period. Your learner’s licence is required to begin in-car sessions in Phase 2.

Phase 2 : 28-day minimum duration - For your first in-car guided sessions, you must be familiar with the concepts presented in theory Module 6 and 7.

Phase 3 : 56-day minimum duration - For your semi-guided in-car sessions, you must be familiar with the concepts presented in the theory Modules 8, 9 and 10.

Phase 4 : 56-day minimum duration - For your transition to independent driving in-car sessions, you must be familiar with the concepts presented in theory modules 11 and 12
